Undergraduates and graduate students interested in mathematics and statistics will have a forum to share research ideas this fall from noon to 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in Room G5 of the Rolla building. Topics to be discussed in these student research seminars include differential geometry, trends in university-level math education, independence proofs and finite model theory. The first speaker (Aug. 27 and Aug. 29) is Malgorzata Marciniak, a graduate student in mathematics. Marciniak will discuss differential geometry. The seminars are open to the general public. For more information, including information about possible seminar course credit or independent study course credit, contact Dr. Matt Insall, associate professor of mathematics, at 341-4901 or insall@umr.edu.
