Many transitions are underway due to organizational changes that began July 1 as a result of our campus budget plan. Here is an update on areas previously in the Division of Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion.
The new structure eliminated the Division of Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion. The human resources staff, led by Rhonda Byers, now reports to the Division of Finance and Operations, overseen by Walt Branson, vice chancellor. This change became effective July 1.
In the new structure, equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives will be overseen by a chief diversity officer. Neil Outar, director of equity and compliance, has been named interim chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator, effective Tuesday, Aug. 1. He will report to the chancellor.
Shenethia Manuel, vice chancellor for human resources, equity and inclusion, is retiring and her position will be eliminated upon her retirement. The campus community is invited to a reception for Manuel 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center.
Manuel and Outar are working together for the transition to Outar’s new role. A national search will be conducted for a permanent chief diversity officer.
More information will be shared with the campus community as details on transitions for organizational changes are made final.
