Celebrate St. Pat’s with the Miner Alumni Association
The Miner Alumni Association invites all faculty and staff to celebrate the 109th Best Ever St. Pat’s Celebration Saturday, March 18, at Hasselmann Alumni House. The schedule includes:
- Pre-parade breakfast, 9-10:30 a.m.
No registration required is required. The first-come, first-served breakfast is free and open to the community.
- Pat’s Parade, 11 a.m.
- Post-parade pig roast, noon-2 p.m.
Registration is required and limited tickets are available. Tickets cost $20 per adult, $10 per child ages 6-12 and are free for children ages up to age 5.

Start your St. Pat’s Celebration early this year by attending the St. Pat’s Ball. Sponsored by Missouri S&T Coterie, the event will be held Saturday, March 11, in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. A four-course meal begins at 7 p.m. followed by a dance with music by Syner-Gee. To sign up or for more information, visit Coterie’s website.

Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff are invited to volunteer for the Gonzo Gives Back Day of Service Thursday, March 16. Check-in will start at 7:45 a.m. and participants will perform service projects 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Donuts and T-shirts will be provided to volunteers while supplies last. As we approach St. Pat’s festivities, Missouri S&T’s University Police would like to offer the following information pertaining to alcohol safety.
Consider not drinking at all.
If you decide to drink:
- Plan your drinking. Think about how much you want to drink before you drink.
- Take care of yourself. Don’t put yourself in a situation where other people might have to take care of you.
- Don’t ever force or pressure anyone to drink.
- Know when you have had enough.
- Never leave your drinks unattended.
- Designate a sober driver.
Sign up to decorate your door for St. Pat’s
Lambda Sigma Pi and the St. Pat’s Board will host the ninth annual St. Pat’s Door Decorating Contest for faculty and staff. There is no entry fee and doors will be judged Friday, March 10. Participants must register by 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, via online registration or by submitting a paper form to Jacee Wood, Lambda Sigma Pi representative, or Alex Lore, St. Pat’s representative. Winners will be announced Wednesday, March 15, during court arrival. The contest features two categories: single-occupant office and multiple-occupant office. Read More »Henslee publishes articles about drinking during St. Pat’s
Dr. Amber Henslee, assistant professor of psychological science, has published two journal articles about her research into drinking during St. Pat’s. According to Henslee’s research into college student health-related behaviors, there isn’t as much drinking as people think. Her articles appear in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs and Addictive Behaviors.

All participants in the St. Pat’s Door Decorating Contest must fill out an entry form and submit it to Jacee Wood by 1 p.m. Friday, March 7. You may register your door as single- or multiple-occupant office. Doors must include the following: “106th Annual,” “Best Ever St. Pat’s,” “2014,” three shamrocks, “Missouri S&T,” two snakes and at least two different official 2014 St. Pat’s merchandise items. Doors will be judged on the amount of green, including all of the previously listed items, double shamrocks or snakes, extra merchandise items, creativity, humor and tradition or artifacts. Doors will be judged on March 11, and winners will be announced March 12, during St. Pat’s Court Arrival.
