Dawson Caldwell of Rolla is the winner of Missouri S&T’s 150th Anniversary Celebration Poster Contest. Dawson, a student in Jessica Humphry’s art class at Rolla Middle School, received a bundle of prizes including a custom printed copy of his poster submission.

Cops and brothers adopt families for holidays

The holidays will be a little brighter for two local families, thanks to Tau Kappa Epsilon and University Police. Individuals in the fraternity and police department teamed up and adopted two families, providing a holiday feast, gifts and household items on Dec. 9 at the TKE house.

S&T student, Rolla teacher blasting off for space symposium

The Space Foundation selected Marisa Tompkins and Amanda Almany as two of 31 teacher liaisons to attend the 34th Annual Space Symposium in April in Colorado Springs. Tompkins is a senior at Missouri S&T from Pomona, Missouri. She is a multidisciplinary studies major with an emphasis in elementary education. Almany is a fifth-grade teacher at Rolla Middle School and one of Missouri S&T’s cooperating teachers for student field experiences at the elementary level.
