Trail of Tears documentary screening, discussion is tonight

Attend a screening of the 2018 documentary film “Digadohi: Lands, Cherokee and the Trail of Tears” at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Feb. 20) in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. A panel discussion with the film’s creators and Native American leaders will follow the film.

Join student diversity initiatives for a discussion led by Dr. Justin Pope, assistant professor of history and political science, 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Diversity House, located at 605 W. 11th St. Pope’s presentation, titled “Can I Call You Native? An Exploration of the Terms ‘Native American’ and ‘American Indian,’ ”will explore the words “Native American” and “American Indian,” both racial terms contested by indigenous people in the United States.
