Dr. William Schonberg, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering at Missouri S&T, presented a guest lecture about space debris in the physics department of the University of the West Indies on Wednesday, Oct. 7. While there, he also met with students from Our Lady of Fatima High School Astrophysics Club along with their principal.

Learn about Jesus in Islam Nov. 7

The Muslim Students Association will host a guest lecture by Shaykh Ibrahim Zidan, teacher and Imam at Al-Manara Academy in St. Louis, 4:15-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the Meramec Room of the Havener Center. FDA lecturer to speak Oct. 27

Dr. Yongbin Zhang of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will give a seminar at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in Room 139 Shrenk Hall. The title of his presentation is “Characterizations in Nanotoxicity Assessment and Nanomedicine Development: A Regulatory Perspective.”

Statistician to give two guest lectures

Dr. Li-Xing Zhu, structural chair professor and head of mathematics at Hong Kong Baptist University, will visit campus and give two lectures on dimension reduction and variable selection methods. The campus community is invited to attend both lectures 4:15-5:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Oct. 17, in Room 295 Toomey Hall. Refreshments will be served both days starting at 4 p.m.

Learn how sleep improves the brain
