First Amendment discussion planned tonight

The Office of Equity and Title IX will host a panel discussion on the First Amendment at 6 p.m. today (Monday, Sept. 17) in Room 199 Toomey Hall. Join the discussion on freedom of speech, know your rights and how they affect how we live, learn and work. Attendees will receive free pocket Constitutions. Guest panelists include:

  • David Steelman, chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators and senior partner at Steelman, Gaunt and Horsefield in Rolla
  • Bob Jerry, law professor at the University of Missouri School of Law
  • Karen Aroesty, regional director of Anti-Defamation League Heartland
  • Representatives from political parties active in Missouri

Today is Constitution Day

Missouri S&T’s history and political science department will host a Constitution Day celebration at noon Monday, Sept. 17, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center. Dr. Dave Robertson will discuss the creation of the U.S. Constitution and how it was formed through battle and compromise.
