Child or spouse graduating in December?

If you are a staff member or faculty member and your spouse or child will be walking in an S&T commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15, please contact Krista Chambers at 341-4898 or krista@mst.edu by Thursday, Nov. 8. Staff and faculty members will have the opportunity to meet their child or spouse at the end of the platform and have a professional photo taken with their graduate.

Oct. 1 is deadline for student commencement speaker applications

Graduating seniors, master’s degree students and Ph.D. students from each college are encouraged to apply for selection as a student speaker for their Winter 2018 commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15. The speakers, who are selected through an application process and competition, must be members of the graduating class they plan to address.

Volunteer as an usher for spring commencement

Missouri S&T’s commencement committee seeks volunteers to usher during graduation ceremonies Saturday, May 12. Ushering will be a full day commitment with lunch provided. Ushering provides a great opportunity to interact with students, their families, and other faculty and staff who help make commencement happen. Faculty regalia orders due April 27

Faculty members can rent regalia for commencement through the S&T Store. Please place your order by Friday, April 27, at the store, by calling 341-4981, or email Mark Gallardo, bookstore manager, at gallardom@mst.edu. The regalia sets come with a gown, cap and tassel. Submit email orders to Gallardo with the following information: last name, first name, phone number, height in feet and inches, weight in pounds, and school information (name and location). Please note if you have your own hood.

Student commencement speakers selected

The Winter 2017 commencement ceremonies will feature student speakers. Undergraduate students were invited this fall to compete for the chance to become one of four speakers. The following individuals will present their speeches during their graduation ceremony Saturday, Dec. 16, in Gale Bullman Building:

Morning ceremony at 10 a.m.

  • Madison Morris, bachelor of science in biology, representing the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business
  • Dajae Moe Williams, bachelor of science in engineering management, representing the College of Engineering and Computing

Afternoon ceremony at 3:30 p.m.

  • Lauren Cockrum, bachelor of science in business and management systems, representing the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business
  • Kelcy Yunghans, bachelor of science in electrical engineering, representing the College of Engineering and Computing
