Get help with your research proposal

Faculty members are invited to meet with research mentors from various disciplines to get feedback on their research proposals during faculty proposal mentoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays this semester. Participants can sign up for a 30-minute slot starting at 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. in Room 305 McNutt Hall on Tuesdays and in Room 118 Fulton Hall on Thursdays. The deadline to sign up is the Friday of the previous week. Please bring a proposal idea and one-page statement about your work to share with mentors.

McMillin named to ABET commission

Dr. Bruce McMillin, associate dean for research and external relations in the College of Engineering and Computing and professor of computer science, has been appointed to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Computing Accreditation Commission. ABET is a non-governmental organization that accredits post-secondary education programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. The appointment is effective in July.

Four faculty awarded Smart Living seed funding

Four Missouri S&T faculty members have been awarded seed funding for two interdisciplinary projects related to S&T’s Smart Living signature area. The awards were selected from 13 proposals from 11 departments and 29 faculty members. Smart Living co-directors Dr. Bruce McMillin and Dr. Nancy Stone selected the winning proposals in consultation with the associate deans of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business and the College of Engineering and Computing. McMillin speaks on the role of education in cybersecurity

Dr. Bruce McMillin, associate dean of the College of Engineering and Computing and a professor of computer science, recently spoke at the Missouri Governor’s Cybersecurity Summit. McMillin presented “The Role of Education in Cybersecurity” with two other Missouri school representatives. The session aimed to provide an overview of the role education is playing in cybersecurity and shared resources to help bolster skills within various organizations.
