Emerson Hall will remain closed until further notice, following a fire on the roof of the structure on Thursday, Dec. 8. The registrar’s office has rescheduled exams previously scheduled in Emerson Hall on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13. Get details of room changes on the registrar’s website. The staff is working to reschedule finals for the remainder of the week. All final exam room changes will be posted on the registrar’s website, http://registrar.mst.edu/eechanges. 41 faculty honored for outstanding teaching, see pictures online

Forty-one Missouri S&T faculty members received the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2015-16. The winners were recognized at a ceremony Dec. 5 on campus. Instructional practices and teaching climate survey reports available

Results from a National Science Foundation project involving teaching at universities focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are now available online. The goal of the study was to get baseline information about teaching climate and practices at S&T to measure the efficacy of new teaching resources as they are being introduced to campus.

Emerson Hall will remain closed until further notice, following a fire on the roof of the structure on Thursday, Dec. 8. University officials decided to keep the building closed following a thorough inspection of the building today, Friday, Dec. 9.
Final examinations previously scheduled at Emerson Hall on Dec. 12 have been relocated. Get details of room changes on the registrar’s website.

UM System Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force announces recommendations

Following the completion of a system-wide audit of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and practices at the University of Missouri System, the university system’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force has released its recommendations for how the university and its campuses can proceed in addressing the issues identified within the report. The audit, conducted by diversity consulting firm IBIS, was part of a series of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives outlined by the University of Missouri Board of Curators on Nov. 9, 2015. Filming of ‘active shooter’ video planned Dec. 11

Missouri S&T’s Police Department, in conjunction with the S&T marketing and communications department, will film an instructional video at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, inside and on the north side of the Engineering Management Building. If you are in the building at this time, you may hear a commotion and see a camera crew. A police officer playing the role of a shooter will act out scenes with student and staff actors. During filming, signage on building entrances and around campus will clearly indicate that filming for a simulated, controlled event is taking place. Missouri S&T Police officers will be stationed near the filming location.

Blackboard will be discontinued Dec. 29, assistance available

Blackboard will be unavailable beginning Dec. 29, instead of Dec. 31, as previously announced. The Educational Technology (EdTech) staff will available every day to assist faculty during and after finals week. The office will be closed for the holidays from Friday, Dec. 23, to Monday, Jan. 1. For assistance transferring course materials from Blackboard to Canvas, the EdTech staff will be available in the Curtis Laws Wilson Library 1-4 p.m. every day until Friday, Dec. 23.
