Renovated lab open house

The Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies invites the campus community to tour the recently renovated Advanced Construction Materials Laboratory from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Room G-6 Engineering Research Laboratory. A light lunch will be served. The lab houses newly acquired $2.5 million of state-of-the-art equipment for the development of advanced construction materials. UM extension beekeeping course

Surplus sale April 25

Surplus property will have a public garage sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the surplus warehouse, located at 301 N. Bishop Ave., Rolla. Items will include bicycles, computer systems, lap top computers, lap top bags, chairs, pictures, three-ring note books, tables, cabinets and desks. All items will be priced. Only cash will be accepted; surplus will not accept personal checks or credit cards. Please note, surplus does not answer the phone during the sale day, and may not answer it a few days prior, as the department is busy getting ready for the sale.

Staff compensation structure

By the end of April, S&T will begin using the new job codes and global job titles outlined in the staff compensation structure (SCS). To better explain the SCS to employees, human resources, affirmative action and diversity inclusion (HRSAADI) has scheduled an informational presentation by a University of Missouri System compensation consultant. These presentations will be held at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Missouri/Ozark Room of the Havener Center. The meetings will be one hour long and all three will cover the same information.

Stomach bug warning

Student health is seeing a large number of students with gastroenteritis, or the stomach bug. It is caused by a virus and is highly contagious. Symptoms typically last 48 hours. The most common symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea. Others include headache, fever, abdominal cramping, loss of appetite, feeling tired and weak, nausea, chills and aching muscles.

Parking fee changes take effect July 1

New parking rates for faculty, staff, students and campus visitors will take effect on July 1. Annual rates for reserve or designated permits will increase by three percent for the 2014-2015 fiscal year — from $124.20 to $127.90. Universal parking permits will also increase by three percent, from $248.30 to $255.80.
