EdTech goes global

You may not have noticed, because there have been no changes to campus services, but Educational Technology (EdTech) is now under the leadership of Dr. Anthony R. Petroy, assistant vice chancellor of global learning. This organizational alignment, which took effect Sept. 1, addresses a key action of Missouri S&T’s strategic plan – to expand and combine efforts in global and online learning.

Watch the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter this Sunday

The S&T Observatory will open its doors before dawn this weekend for visitors to view the conjunction of Jupiter and Mars through its 16-inch telescope. The viewing will be held at 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. The sky must be clear for observing and session length will vary.

Recommend students for Writing Center tutor positions

The Writing Center will hire undergraduate peer tutors to begin work in January 2016, and staff need your help in identifying qualified candidates. If you know any students who have strong writing and interpersonal skills, encourage them to apply. Applications from students in any discipline will be accepted. Ideal candidates expect to graduate no earlier than May 2017. Tutoring offers valuable educational and leadership experience in a relaxed but professional environment. Email the names of promising candidates to Jeanine Bruening by Friday, Oct. 30, and Writing Center staff will issue personal invitations to them.

Encourage Chancellor’s Leadership Academy applications
