Joe Boze, engineering technician II in mechanical and aerospace engineering, died on Saturday, Oct. 31. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Fox Funeral Home, located at 128 S. Main St. in Licking, Missouri. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. Boze worked at Missouri S&T for 15 years.

As announced at State of the University Address in September, Missouri S&T’s second annual Strategic Plan Summit will be held 1-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in St. Pat’s C at the Havener Center.

The Testing Center is quickly filling to capacity for finals week. Any students or faculty requiring alternate test times, make-up exams or other testing arrangements should contact the Testing Center no later than Friday, Nov. 6, to schedule dates and times, or the Testing Center may not be able to accommodate students and alternative arrangements will have to be made. Dr. Richard Brow, Curators’ Professor of materials science and engineering, is now chair of that department. He succeeds Dr. Wayne Huebner, who served as chair from January 2007 through last Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Faculty and research staff can attend Research Centers’ Day events on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. The events begin with a seminar at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Robert Paul, who will present “Understanding the Human Brain,” followed by center exhibits and tours at 4 p.m.

Dr. Glenn Ulrich, technical director of the environmental division of Parsons Commercial Services, will present “Application of anaerobic biotechnologies for environmental remediation and green energy production,” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in Room 318 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Ulrich’s lecture will focus on the anaerobic biotechnology field and how ongoing research could lead to greater implementation to combat environmental contaminants. The lecture is sponsored by the Environmental Research Center.
