Custodians are the workers in the background or “behind” the scenes who strive to provide a safe, healthy, clean and wholesome educational environment for the students, faculty and staff of Missouri S&T. Please take a minute to let them know their efforts are appreciated in honor of Custodial Workers Day, which is Sunday, Oct. 2.

Do you know students who would be willing to represent S&T? The marketing and communications department is looking for new student faces and voices to help tell the Missouri S&T story to various audiences. The department will host two “casting calls” for interested students Oct. 5-6 in the Havener Center. Students of all ages and majors are needed. No acting experience is necessary. The annual Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference will be held Nov. 3-4 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Scholars, educators and practitioners from numerous universities will share their online innovations and teaching experiences. The program and the registration link are available online.

Dr. Paulo C. Lozano, associate professor and director of the Space Propulsion Laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will present a talk titled “Fundamentals and Applications of MEMS-based Electrospray Propulsion” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in Room 140 Toomey Hall. Lozano’s presentation is part of the mechanical and aerospace engineering (MAE) Graduate Seminar Series.

Join Honeywell from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Havener Center atrium. Network with representatives and learn about potential career opportunities. At noon that Tuesday, visit the Carver Room in the Havener Center for a Honeywell presentation on “Transitioning from College to Career.”

This September, it will be fifteen years since the United States was the victim of a terror attack. To recall the events of that day, honor the memory of those who gave their lives in service and to remember the coming together of the country in the days that followed, Air Force and Army ROTC will hold a half-hour ceremony at noon Friday, Sept. 9, in front of Harris Hall. The groups invite the campus community to join them on this anniversary for a wreath-laying ceremony and flag retirement.
