Apply to speak at your commencement ceremony

Graduating seniors, master’s degree students and Ph.D. students from each college are encouraged to apply for selection as a student speaker for their Spring 2019 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 17, or Saturday, May 18. The speakers, who are selected through an application process and competition, must be members of the graduating class they plan to address.

Applications are due by 8 a.m. Friday, March 1, to Krista Chambers, program support coordinator in the office of the provost, at krista@mst.edu. To read the guidelines and download an application, please visit the provost’s website at provost.mst.edu/commencementstudentspeaker.

Counseling Services spring 2019 groups

Groups are a safe place for you to connect with others at a deeper level, to find a place to be yourself, to learn how to give and receive support, and to experience the joy of finding your own “voice”. Topics include ADHD, Asperger’s Support, Body Image, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Care of Problematic Emotions, Grad Student Support, Healthy Relationships, Men’s Action Therapy, Miners4Recovery, Safety, Social Confidence, Test Anxiety, and Thriving, not just Surviving. Counseling Services now offers Walk-In Hours

Students seeking a brief consultation (rather than ongoing counseling) are encouraged to stop by 204 Norwood Hall to engage in a conversation with a counselor. No paperwork to complete! We’ll figure out together what campus services can help, what barriers need to be overcome, or decide if counseling really is warranted. Walk-in consultations are first-come, first-served and students should aim for the following times: Monday, 10-11 am; Tuesday, 2-3 pm; Wednesday, 10-11 am; Thursday, 2-3 pm; Friday, 10-11.
