For a time, it appeared that the Lady Miners’ winning streak might fall one game short of the school record. But after outscoring Southern Illinois Edwardsville 28-14 over the final 14 minutes, the streak was a alive and well heading into weekend action at Quincy. The Lady Miner basketball team trailed 14th-ranked Northern Kentucky at halftime, but outscored the Norse 44-19 after the intermission and rolled to a 66-42 victory Saturday afternoon at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. The Lady Miners will try to continue their impressive winning streak Thursday.

The Lady Miners pushed their winning streak to eight games Thursday night as Tamara McCaskill and Katie Bunge both recorded double-doubles to lead Missouri S&T to a 76-65 victory over Bellarmine at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

The Lady Miners got a career-high 26 points from Tamara McCaskill Saturday and were able to extend their winning streak to seven games with a 67-60 victory over Lewis in Romeoville, Ill.

Ashton Gronewold’s senior season — and career, for that matter — have landed him a spot on the roster for the Valero Cactus Bowl, an NCAA Division II all-star game scheduled to take place Jan. 11, 2008 in Kingsville, Texas. UMR sports news here.
