The recent increase in power outages has caused major problems with both campus operations and research. Facilities operations knows how disruptive to both operations and research this has been and are working diligently to resolve the issue. Most, if not all, of these outages have been caused by squirrels shorting circuits in the campus substation. Efforts to trap and relocate the squirrels have not resulted in a reduction of incidents.

Physical facilities will test fire alarms in the following campus buildings over the next two days. Tuesday, Feb. 9: Norwood Hall, Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall, Emerson Hall, Curtis Laws Wilson Library. Wednesday, Feb. 10: Toomey Hall, McNutt Hall. For more information, call 341-4252.

The elevator in Schrenk Hall is out of service today (Wednesday, Feb. 3). This outage will last the entire day, and regular service will return tomorrow. For more information, call physical facilities at 341-4252.

There will be a water outage 4-9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, throughout Schrenk Hall. Physical facilities will make valve repairs during this time. For more information, call Mike Amick at 341-4252.

Power will be shut off in Castleman Hall 7-8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, because of the renovation project on the Leach Theatre sounds system. For additional information contact Rick Johns at 341-7619.

Due to maintenance, there will be no heat on the second floor of Harris Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Several buildings were without power this morning because of squirrel damage, according to physical facilities. Facilities operations staff are checking equipment in affected campus buildings. For more information, call Mike Bassett at 341-4044.

The process steam boiler in Bertelsmeyer Hall will be shut down for repair at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, and remain off through Friday, Oct. 30. For more information, contact Robert Armstrong in facilities operations at 202-3562.

Maximo, the physical facilities work order system, will be unavailable 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, due to a system upgrade. During that time, the campus community will not be able to view or submit service requests for facilities, construction, custodial or landscaping work. Rolla Municipal Utilities will turn off power in the Rock Mechanics and Explosives Research Center all day Friday, Oct. 16, to connect new power lines to the new Energetics Building located behind the center. Phones and computers will be off most of the day.
