University of Missouri System retirement specialists will present pre-retirement planning seminars on campus at the following times:

• 1:30-3:30 p.m. today (Monday, Sept. 11), in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center
• 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Sept. 12, in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center

Appointments are also available for one-on-one planning.

Elections for the 2017-18 year for vacant Staff Council positions are coming up. Nominations are due today (Wednesday, July 19). You may nominate yourself or another staff member for the 2017-18 year. To be eligible to serve on Staff Council, an employee must be a benefit-eligible staff member with at least one year of service before July 1, 2017. You may submit one nomination. Molly Mills, a former staff member who served Missouri S&T for 39 years, died Friday, May 26. She joined the university in 1971 as a secretary and retired in 2010 as an executive assistant in University Advancement.

Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) currently has two-year scholarships available. These full-tuition scholarships cover full in-state or out-of-state tuition plus provide $1,200 per year for books and a tax-free stipend of $450 to $500 per month. The Army ROTC scholarship can pay for the final two years of a bachelor’s degree or a two-year master’s degree program. To qualify, a student must be a U.S. citizen and have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, pass a physical fitness test and meet medical qualifications.
