On the hit TV show, “Shark Tank,” entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to investors. At Missouri S&T’s Miner Tank from 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Havener Center’s Carver-Turner Room, students, faculty and staff will pitch proposals for innovative projects to the Missouri S&T Innovation Team.

This year’s State of the University Address will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Leach Theatre. Typically, this address features a presentation that highlights the university’s successes and challenges. This year’s address will be different.

The Student Success Center will host its “Sophomore Summit” 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. As the name implies, the event is designed for students who are sophomores at Missouri S&T.

The engineering management and systems engineering department is hosting a chili cook-off and Halloween costume contest Monday, Oct. 31, in the second-floor lobby of the Engineering Management Building.

Is your child interested in theater? Auditions for “A Christmas Story” will be held at 6 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 3, and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the Black Box Theatre, Room 143 Castleman Hall. The auditions are open to everyone, including both adults and children. Performances will be held Nov. 10-13 at Leach Theatre.

Career opportunities and employer relations is hosting an employer seminar series for students. Enterprise Holdings will present “The Internship Experience,” at noon Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Room 305 Norwood Hall.

Members of the student activity finance board (SAFB) will present recommendations for the 2017-18 student activity fee during an open forum about direct student funding (DSF) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Room 204 McNutt Hall.
