Enter Celebration of Nations tee design contest by Jan. 26
Amateur artists and designers are invited to submit original designs for this year’s Celebration of Nations T-shirt by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. The winning designer will receive a $150 gift card to the S&T Store and the shirts will be available at the St. Pat’s parade Saturday, March 17, in downtown Rolla. Counseling services offers various student groups to help students cope with school demands, feel better faster and stay in school happier. Several groups will launch next week, including groups focused on safety, ADHD support and Miners 4 Recovery. Have you stepped up to walking challenge?
Your campus theater is opening its doors from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for four weeks for the “Leach Step Challenge.” The challenge is open to faculty, staff and students. It began Jan. 22 and will end Friday, Feb. 16. If you log 8,000 steps on the Leach Theatre stairs and walkways, you’ll win a free ticket to an upcoming show at Leach.

Gregory Woods, a former staff member who served Missouri S&T for 10 years, died Jan. 1. He joined the university in 1996 and retired in 2006 as a mechanical trades specialist-electrician in physical facilities.

Introducing CAFE
The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) is a new resource at Missouri S&T designed to promote the success of S&T faculty as teaching-scholars throughout all stages of their career. Led by Dr. Larry Gragg, chair, and Dr. Wayne Huebner, co-chair, CAFE was developed in Spring 2017 by the provost’s office, in conjunction with a campus steering committee.

The office of undergraduate studies offers a series of advising development sessions for Missouri S&T advisors to help students succeed. The Spring 2018 series will include the following presentations, all scheduled at noon-1:30 p.m. in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center:
- “Understanding and Engaging Today’s Students,” presented by Dr. Patti J. Fleck, director of counseling services, on Monday, Feb. 5
- “MyDegree: The New Degree Planning Tool,” presented by Julie Parker, assistant registrar, on Monday, March 5
- “Success for Calculus – It’s Time for Data,” presented by Paul Runnion, associate teaching professor of mathematics, on Monday, April 16
