Tomorrow is deadline for staff, faculty award nominations
Is there an outstanding Missouri S&T staff member you would like to recognize? How about a faculty member? Or a new staff member who deserves recognition? Staff Council is now accepting nominations for Staff Excellence Awards and two new accolades: Outstanding Newcomer Award and Outstanding Faculty Award. Nominations are due tomorrow (Friday, April 19).

The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) invites all early-career faculty to a forum about promotion and tenure 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Havener Center. Separate sessions will be provided for tenure-track faculty and non-tenure-track faculty.

Applications are open for the 2019-20 Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experience (OURE) program. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a $500 scholarship. Applications are due Wednesday, May 1, in the experiential learning office in Room 119 Kummer Student Design Center.

Missouri S&T’s Black Man’s Think Tank will host “A Conversation on Learning” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in St. Pat’s C of the Havener Center. The session will be an open dialogue among students, faculty, staff and administrators about student experiences in the classroom and the importance of student and professor collaboration in the learning process.

The African Student Association invites all students, faculty and staff to S&T’s African Gala Night 5-9 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. With a theme of “The Motherland,” the event will feature different aspects of the African culture, including dance, art, food, fashion, music, entertainment and traditions.
