Funeral arrangements announced for Abigail Jones

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Abigail Regina Jones, who passed away Jan. 30. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Dr. Grace Yan, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was elected chair of the North American Alliance for Hazards and Disaster Research (NAAHDRI) board of directors. She also participated in site visits to areas damaged in December’s deadly tornadoes.

Awarded by Natural Sciences Publishing in cooperation with the African Academy of Sciences, the Obada Prize recognizes and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research.

Alumnus named legend for petroleum engineering technology

Dr. Ali Daneshy, who earned a Ph.D. in mining engineering from Missouri S&T in 1969, will receive the 2022 Legend of Hydraulic Fracturing Award during the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference in Texas this week.
