Funeral arrangements have been announced for Abigail Regina Jones, who passed away Jan. 30. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Yan leads disaster research board
Dr. Grace Yan, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was elected chair of the North American Alliance for Hazards and Disaster Research (NAAHDRI) board of directors. She also participated in site visits to areas damaged in December’s deadly tornadoes.

Dr. William Fahrenholtz, Dr. Gregory Hilmas, and recent S&T Ph.D. graduate Dr. Alec Murchie co-authored a paper that was named one of the best papers of 2021 by the Journal of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS).

Dr. Martin Bohner, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of mathematics and statistics, earned an Obada Prize for his work in 2021. Awarded by Natural Sciences Publishing in cooperation with the African Academy of Sciences, the Obada Prize recognizes and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research.
