Forty-one Missouri S&T faculty members will receive the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2014-15 at a ceremony scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A of the Havener Center. The award is given each year to faculty members by the Outstanding Teaching Award Committee, which bases its selections on student evaluations. Click here for a list of winners.

Dr. Jihong Yan, professor of advanced manufacturing at Harbin Institute of Technology in China, will present a seminar titled “Sustainability Assessment and Energy Efficiency Oriented Simulation,” at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in Room 213 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Yan will present a modular design methodology for achieving sustainable design as well as fulfilling functional requirements with a novelty 6R concept (reuse, recycle, reduce, recover, redesign and remanufacture). The event is part of the Bernard Sarchet Graduate Seminar Series sponsored by engineering management and systems engineering.

Mark Metzger, senior technology advisor at the U.S. Army’s Picatinny Arsenal research and development facility, will present a seminar at noon Thursday, Dec. 3, in the Meramec Room of the Havener Center. Metzger’s lecture will cover the need to produce the next generation of energetic materials and the current lack of advanced processes for material fabrication. Lunch will be served at the event.
