The Miner Alumni Association invites all faculty and staff to join them on Saturday, March 19, to celebrate the 108th “Best Ever” St. Pat’s celebration at Hasselmann Alumni House, located at 1100 N. Pine St.

Learn how games in the classroom can incorporate critical-thinking skills, as well as active learning in “Ideas at Play: Bringing Learning Games Into the Classroom,” a practical, hands-on workshop, which will be held noon-1 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the Meramec/Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. Bring a lunch; dessert and drinks are provided.

There will be a campuswide test of the emergency mass notification system at noon Wednesday, Feb. 24. The test will include a text message to students and employees saying, “This is a test of the Missouri S&T emergency mass notification system. This is only a test.” The test will also include voice and email alerts.

The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) invites all CEC faculty and staff to attend an open meeting 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in St Pat’s Ballroom C of the Havener Center. The meeting will celebrate notable accomplishments within the college, present ideas for strategic initiatives, solicit feedback from faculty and staff, and promote positive and sustained engagement among the members of all units. An informal reception will follow the meeting and refreshments will be served.

Human resources will host a pre-retirement telepresence seminar 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, in Room 201-A Curtis Laws Wilson Library. This seminar will cover types of retirement plans, retirement eligibility, pension planning, retirement calculations, steps to retirement and more. Participate in the eighth annual “St. Pat’s Door Decorating Competition.” Watch for flyers and entry forms that will provide entrants with all of the requirements for single-and multiple-occupant offices. Watlow representatives will present “Constructive Culture: Putting People First to Achieve Business Results” at noon Monday, Feb. 29, in Room 305 Norwood Hall. Students should bring their student ID.

The Gaffers Guild will sell St. Pat’s-themed cups, paperweights and sun-catchers, along with other student-made glass art, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, and Friday, March 11, in the McNutt Hall commons.

By order of Gov. Jay Nixon, all flags at Missouri state and government offices will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Feb. 20, in honor of Capt. Kevin T. Roche, who died while serving his country.
