New graduate student orientation
The office of graduate studies is hosting a new graduate student orientation to provide information, answer questions and guide new graduate students as they begin their graduate studies at Missouri S&T. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5. The orientation will include presentations and a panel discussion with graduate faculty. Students may network and visit the information booths. Refreshments will be served and door prizes can be won.

Einstein Bagels will be closed starting Tuesday, Jan. 14, to upgrade its register system. Einstein’s will reopen as soon as the installation is complete. As a result of the recommendations from the Learning Management System (LMS) review committee, EdTech has invited Blackboard to demonstrate its product on campus and answer questions from the campus community. Blackboard will host a presentation at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend the demonstration.

Educational technology will host an extended session of EdTech U from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in Room 105 Interdisciplinary Engineering Building. This is an opportunity for instructors to get some last-minute assistance in preparing their courses for spring 2014. EdTech staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide support for Blackboard, clickers/TurningPoint, Tegrity and any other technologies that EdTech supports.

In the coming weeks, the University of Missouri System will roll out an upgrade to the PaymentNet system–PaymentNet 4.
