Poetry reading April 11

PoetSpeak, a poetry reading that lets local poets share their work, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Main St. in Rolla. Two S&T professors will speak during the event.

Charlotte Matthews, the Maxwell C. Weiner Professor of Humanities, will present “Keeping the Moment Alive: The Indelibility of Poetry.”

Dr. Jerry Cohen, professor of German, will present “Debt of the English Lexicon to Poems: Origin of the Word ‘Jinx.’”

The event, which is sponsored by Arts Rolla and the S&T arts, languages and philosophy department, is free and open to the public. For more information, email Cohen.
