Events planned during Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is observed this week, from today (Monday, Feb. 20) through Friday, Feb. 24. Join counseling, disability support, and student wellness (CDSW) for these events:

  • “Pop the Stigma” on Monday, Feb. 20, at the Miner Well outside the Curtis Laws Wilson Library
  • Free mental health screenings will be offered during lunch Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Havener Center
  • Drop-in relaxation session at noon Friday, Feb. 24, in Room 201 Norwood Hall

Concerned about a student reporting test anxiety?

Counseling, disability support and student wellness (CDSW) offers a three-session workshop, “Worriers to Warriors: Conquering Test Anxiety,” to help students manage anxiety and perform better academically. The series will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 22, March 1 and March 8. For the location and to reserve their space, students should contact counsel@mst.edu or call CDSW at 341-4211.

Emergency fund helps students

The S&T Student Emergency Fund has been created by counseling, disability support and student wellness (CDSW). This fund assists S&T students by providing financial support with unexpected emergency expenses that greatly affect their lives, including their ability to succeed academically. The financial support from this fund allows students to have their needs met and continue their education. Funds may be used for situations including medical care or prescriptions, groceries, or essential academic expenses.

CDSW fall therapy groups

One of the best ways to build self-awareness and skills for success is through participation in a group. Counseling, disability support and student wellness (CDSW) groups are confidential and life enhancing. They offer support groups for students with ADHD or Asperger’s, an ongoing general therapy group and a three-week Test Anxiety Workshop.
