Reception for Adams planned

You are invited to a going-away reception for Dr. Craig Adams, the John and Susan Mathes Chair of Environmental Engineering Professor and director of the Environmental Research Center. Adams will be taking over as chair of the department of civil, environmental and architectural engineering at the University of Kansas. The reception is from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, in the Kummer Atrium of Butler Carlton Hall.

Retirement reception for Sue Kellems planned

Sue Kellems, administrative assistant for arts, languages and philosophy, is retiring after 33 years of service to the university. Sue began her career in 1975 in the environmental engineering department, working for Professor Bobby Wixon. She later accepted a position with the Center for International Programs and Studies before transferring to what is now the arts, languages and philosophy department. The department will host a reception for Sue from 3-4 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the Meramec/Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. Please come by and wish Sue a happy retirement.

Attend reception for Schonberg

Dr. William P. Schonberg, chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was named the 2007 recipient of the Manuel T. Pacheco Academic Leadership Award. A reception for Schonberg will be held from 3:30-5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, in the Kummer Atrium of Butler Carlton Hall.

The Pacheco Award was created in 2002 and is presented to an administrator who exemplifies outstanding academic leadership qualities at the University of Missouri. The campus community is invited to attend the reception, which is sponsored by the Office of the Provost.

Reception for Cheng scheduled

Dr. Franklin Cheng, Curators' Professor emeritus of civil engineering, has been selected as an honorary member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. A reception for Cheng will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in Kummer Atrium of Butler Carlton Hall. (Note: The time of the reception has changed from the previously announced start time of 1:30 p.m.) The campus community is invited.

Reception planned for Human Powered Vehicle Team Aug. 21

The Student Design & Experiential Learning Center invites you to a reception to celebrate the national champion Human-Powered Vehicle Team from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, in St. Pat's Ballroom A of the Havener Center. Meet the team and have some hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.

In the past, the team has captured six first-place titles at its East Coast Challenge, but the West Coast championship has been elusive until this year. In the spring of 2007, they took first place in both competitions, which makes them bona fide national champions.
