Dr. Richard D. Hagni, Curators' Professor emeritus of geology and geophysics, was honored during the program's Homecoming Banquet on Oct. 22, with his family, former students and colleagues in attendance. Hagni retired in August 2000 after more than 40 years of service to Missouri S&T, 15 of them as chairman of the former geology and geophysics department. He is internationally renowned for his research in ore microscopy and ore deposits.

Conflict of interest disclosure is a legal requirement for all university employees. You must notify your supervisor, in writing, of reasonably foreseen potential conflicts of interest.

New student programs would like to thank everyone for their involvement and dedication to S&T's freshmen during Opening Week last week. It was a positive learning experience for the new students, thanks to the cooperative efforts of many faculty, staff and students who participated. These early relationships freshmen develop with other students, staff and faculty are instrumental in helping them make a successful transition to college life. Opening Week also establishes realistic academic expectations for new students and provides programs that promote academic success. The department looks forward to working with everyone again in 2010.

Several weeks after the end of each semester, a list of Missouri S&T graduates and students on the honor roll for that semester is sent to the students' hometown newspapers via an electronic distribution service. The newspapers decide whether or not to print this information. The list does not include students who have restricted the release of this information by signing and turning in a "Restriction of Release of Directory Information" form to the office of the registrar.

Honor Roll information is available on Joe'SS. Click on Self Service > Student Center, then click the drop down box under Academics and select Academic Standing. There will be a list of terms on the Honor Roll. Per the Student Academic Regulations, students who receive a GPA of at least 3.2 and have completed 12 hours are designated as honor students for that semester.

Protect co-workers from injury

Please remove or bend over nails when disassembling a pallet or crate after receiving an item to help prevent injury from exposed nails. A staff member was recently taken to the emergency room after stepping on a nail. Wood scraps may be discarded in a dumpster as long as the pieces fit within the container. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
