Leadership and cultural programs invites you to celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month during a lunchtime presentation by a Navajo code caller from World War II. Participants will meet in the Centennial Hall parking lot at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, to drive to Fort Leonard Wood for this unique opportunity. The anticipated return time is 1:30 p.m. Leadership and cultural programs will provide the transportation and pay half the cost - you just pay $5. Seating is limited. Dr. Harvest Collier, vice provost for undergraduate studies, will discuss "Guidelines for Dealing with Issues related to Academic Dishonesty," as part of the Fall 2009 Academic Advising Conference Series. The Central States Microscopy and Microanalysis Society (CSMMS) will hold its fall meeting Nov. 9-10 at the Havener Center. Clarissa Wisner, SEM specialist in the Materials Research Center, is the society's president. The meeting is open to the campus and to the general public. CSMMS is dedicated to the promotion of both microscopy and microanalysis in the scientific research community.
Dr. T. Prabhakar Clement from Auburn University will discuss "Are Groundwater Models Reliable Tools for Reconstructing Historical Contamination Scenarios?" at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in Room 209 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The seminar is presented by the Environmental Research Center.

Dr. C.P. Huang, the Donald C. Phillips Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware, will discuss "Advanced Chemical Oxidation Technology for the Remediation of Impaired Water" this Friday. The lecture will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The seminar is presented by the Environmental Research Center.
John Johnson, who earned his bachelor's degree in physics in 1999 from S&T, will present "The Golden Age of Exoplanet Spin-Orbit Measurements" from 4-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in Room 104 Physics Building. Refreshments will be served at 3:40 p.m. in the hallway prior to the lecture. The Homecoming Colloquium lecture is presented by the physics department. Everyone is invited to attend.
An advisors' roundtable discussion titled "The Advisor's Role in Effective Event Planning" will be held at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Carver Room of the Havener Center. The discussion will focus on sharing strategies for successful advisement in planning student organization events. Topics will include funding, risk management and co-sponsorships.
