S&T at Maker Faire Kansas City

Missouri S&T will be well-represented at Maker Faire Kansas City this weekend, with students, faculty, staff and Joe Miner taking part in the event. Dubbed “the greatest show and tell on earth,” Maker Faire Kansas City is a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness where engineers and artists, scientists and crafters get together to share their hobbies, experiments and projects. Missouri S&T is a sponsor of the event. Students involved in the S&T Makerspace project in the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building and members of the world champion Mars Rover Design Team will be on hand at the S&T booth, along with other students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and volunteers.

Monday’s edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch includes two stories about Missouri S&T: A front-page article about our economic impact and value to the state and a story about the campus gender gap, which is similar to other STEM-focused universities.

Passing of Dr. Tim Philpot

Dr. Tim Philpot, associate professor of structural engineering in the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department, died Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2017). No immediate memorial service is planned. The family plans to hold a celebration of his life at a later date.

Check out the new and improved Missouri S&T Calendar of Events. With a more prominent display on the university main website, the calendar is your go-to place for publicizing events. If you want to ensure your upcoming event has the most visibility possible, simply visit calendar.mst.edu, log on with your university username and password, and submit your event information to the calendar.
