Parking lots M, B open

Due to changes in plans for the block party for students Friday, April 21, Parking Area B Lot 13, Lot V for visitors and Area M, Lot 36 will not be closed as previously planned and announced. The block party has been moved to the Rec Center and the fireworks display has been cancelled. Individuals with M or B permits may park in the lots as they normally would.

Open forums coming up for CEC dean candidates

Three candidates for the vice provost and dean position in the College of Engineering and Computing have been invited for campus interviews beginning next week and concluding before commencement on Saturday, May 13. The search committee invites all faculty, students and staff to participate in the process, which will include forums for each candidate.

The candidates’ names, bios and curriculum vitae will be released during the timeframe of each candidate’s visit. An itinerary is being finalized for each candidate. Times and locations will be announced in eConnection.

Parking lot near McNutt closing temporarily for fireworks

Area M, Lot 36 between McNutt Hall and the Engineering Research Laboratory will close at 3 p.m. Friday, April 21, and must be completely empty by 6 p.m. for a fireworks display after the concert. If the lot is not cleared, the fireworks display will be cancelled. Area M, Lot 19 will remain open. Parking operations is aware of the event and will not issue tickets to Lot M permit holders who park in other campus lots. All other parking rules must be observed. Parking lots, street to close temporarily April 20-21

Parking Area B Lot 13, Lot V for visitors and Miner Circle Drive from the Campus Support Building to State Street will be closed from 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, through 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, for a block party and concert sponsored by the student union board (SUB). Parking Area B Lot 13 and Lot V for visitors are located near the Campus Support Facility and Havener Center. (See a parking map at police.mst.edu/parking.) Access to this area will not be available. The other Area B lots (B-7, B-22 and B-26) will be open. Parking operations is aware of the event and will not issue tickets to Lot B permit holders who park in other campus lots. Hundreds of visitors coming to campus next week

More than 600 participants in the Technology Students Association (TSA) championships will be on campus from Sunday, April 23, through Tuesday, April 25. Participants include middle school students and high school students and advisors, judges and parents. Busses will drop students off at the Havener Center in the morning and park near Gale Bullman. To allow the buses space to maneuver, the west side of Area B, Lot 13 will be closed. Parking operations will not issue tickets to Lot B permit holders who park in other campus lots.

Honor Dr. Maochen Ge at retirement reception April 26

The campus community is invited to a retirement reception for Dr. Maochen Ge, associate professor of mining and nuclear engineering, 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the commons area of McNutt Hall.

Retirement reception for Jeannie Headrick set for April 28

Join the information technology department for a celebration of Jeannie Headrick’s 32 years of service to Missouri S&T at a retirement reception 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the Southwestern Bell Cultural Center. Waka! Waka! Waka! Enter to win Muppet tickets

Post a video impersonation of Kermit The Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear or another Muppet character for a chance to win soft drinks and four tickets to Sing Along with The Muppet Movie at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Leach Theatre. The Missouri S&T Staff Council and the University of Missouri System Healthy for Life program are offering a healthy recipe challenge for all faculty and staff. Join this fun challenge by submitting a recipe by Friday, April 28, or simply attending the healthy recipe tasting event during Staff Day on Wednesday, May 17.
