Toxicity of nanoparticles seminar

Dr. Yongbin Zhang of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will give a seminar at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in Room 139 Schrenk Hall. SPAR lectures Oct. 31

Dr. Billie F. Spencer Jr., professor and Newmark Endowed Chair of civil engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will present two lectures, one technical, one for general audiences, as part of the new “Distinguished Lecture Series” organized by the System and Process Assessment Research (SPAR) Laboratory in the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department at Missouri S&T. The lectures are free and open to the campus community.

Updated Ebola travel restrictions

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued updated information for colleges, universities and students regarding international travel to nations affected by the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, as well as other nations where cases of Ebola have been reported. All Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff are advised to follow the CDC’s Warning – Level 3 Travel Notices, which recommend that people avoid non-essential travel to the affected nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone and that “education-related travel to these countries be postponed until further notice.” The American College Health Association has also provided a number of internal and external resources to help educate S&T students, faculty and staff on Ebola.

Research open house Nov. 10

Psychological science; history and political science; English and technical communication; arts, languages and philosophy; and economics will host a research open house 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in Room 101 Humanities and Social Sciences Building. All faculty and staff are invited to the event.

Bookstore Halloween costume contest

Stop by the S&T Bookstore 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Halloween (Friday, Oct. 31) to enter its costume contest. Up to $200 in prizes will be awarded to winning participants.
