Library water outage

There will be a water outage from 7-8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Curtis Laws Wilson Library to allow physical facilities staff to perform equipment repairs. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Mike Amick at 341-4252.

Open feedback sessions for assoc. dean

The screening committee for the associate dean of academic affairs for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business invites the campus community to four public feedback sessions Oct. 13-15 on campus. These meetings will allow Missouri S&T faculty, staff and students an opportunity to listen to a short presentation by and interact with the candidates for the position and to provide input to the committee as it prepares its report regarding the candidates. Public feedback sessions will be 40 minutes each and will be held as follows:

Biological sciences seminar Oct. 13

Dr. Martha Bhattacharya, assistant professor of biology at Saint Louis College of Pharmacy, will present a seminar on factors that combat neurodegeneration. The seminar will be held 3-4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in Room 139 Schrenk Hall. All are welcome to attend. For more information, email Jessica Pelc.

O’Keefe Lecture is Oct. 16

Dr. William E. Horst will present the sixth annual Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Planje Auditorium, Room 204 McNutt Hall. Horst’s lecture is titled “Life after MSM: Reflections on a Mineral Processing Career.” A reception honoring Horst will be held 2:45-3:30 p.m. in the McNutt Hall commons.

Study abroad invites the campus community to attend a workshop on safety and security for faculty-led programs noon-3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in St. Pat’s Ballroom B of the Havener Center. Learn about Boren Scholarships

Encourage your students to attend a presentation about the Boren Scholarships 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Room 101 Emerson Hall. Scholarships for semester and year-long study abroad for both undergraduates and graduate students are available. There is also a new $8,000 scholarship for STEM students to attend an eight-week summer study abroad program. A representative from the Boren Scholarship will make a presentation on opportunities for students who want to study abroad.
