Rep. Emerson, Gov. Nixon visit campus

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and U.S. Rep. Joann Emerson, who represents Rolla and Missouri's 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, will both visit campus this week.

Emerson is scheduled to arrive on campus at around 3:30 p.m. today to learn more about Missouri S&T's Innovation Park development and planning, tour labs and meet with researchers. She will meet first with Provost Warren K. Wray for a campus update, then meet with Keith Strassner, director of technology transfer and economic development, to learn more about Innovation Park, Missouri S&T's research park. Later, she will meet with Drs. Jag Sarangapani and Reza Zoughi of the electrical and computer engineering department to learn about their research.

Nixon is scheduled to visit campus at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, to sign two pieces of legislation pertaining to the promotion of math, engineering, science and technology in the state. The location of the signing ceremony and additional details about the governor's visit will be available soon.
