ECE brings National Engineers Week 2008 to local school

|

Sixth- and seventh-grade classes at the Dent-Phelps R3 School received a lesson and demonstration on bridges and instrumentation as part of National Engineers Week 2008. Amy Perrey of St. Charles, a senior in electrical engineering, presented the program with the assistance of Dr. Steve E. Watkins, professor of electrical engineering at Missouri S&T. The students saw how measurements can prevent failures in structures.

This event is the third year that Dent-Phelps has had an engineering presentation for EWEEK. The annual EWEEK program seeks to highlight the work and contributions of our nation's engineers.

"Examples from engineering show students the value of is science and mathematics," Watkins says. "Our local schools should benefit from the resources and expertise at Missouri S&T."
