Meet Dr. Paul Stricker (Life Sciences ’82)

|

Dr. Paul Stricker (Life Sciences ’82), author and youth sports medicine specialist, will speak during a brown bag luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in the Alumni Association office in Castleman Hall. Drinks will be provided.

Stricker, author of “Sports Success RX!” is one of a small number of physicians in the United States to be board-certified in pediatrics and sports medicine. He is the first pediatrician to be selected by the U.S. Olympic Committee for the 2000 Summer Olympics medical staff and is the current President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

His book “Sports Success RX!” outlines the many unrealistic expectations and pressures associated with our children’s athletic aspirations which stem from a lack of knowledge about the sequential maturation of these skills. Stricker, a 1982 life sciences graduate of UMR, completed pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and sports medicine at UCLA. He received a professional degree from UMR in 2006. Stricker graduated from John F. Hodge High School in St. James.

"Sports Success RX!” Your Child’s Prescription for the Best Experience” is available on Amazon.com and can be purchased at the event.
