Opening Week is quickly shaping up to be a terrific week of academics, activities and fun. The week begins with more than 1,050 new freshmen participating in the “New Student Move-In” on Saturday, Aug. 11, and activities continue through Saturday, Aug. 18. Throughout the week, students will complete an academic workshop, learn about campus and college life, and participate in Project X – a team design project. There will also be plenty of evening activities for our new students, including a welcome picnic, comedy, recreation, game night, Vegas night, Discover Rolla, an outdoor movie and much more.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend all events during Opening Week. One of the events you won’t want to miss is the New Student Convocation, the official UMR welcome, at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, in the Student Rec Center.
